How to Use QR (Quick Response) Codes to Increase your sales

Have you heard about QR codes? Are you using QR codes to increase sales? Do you even know what these are?
QR (Quick Response) codes were created by Toyota subsidiary Denso Wave in 1994 to track vehicles during the manufacturing process. The QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes and it is designed to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.
You can link any type of data to this code such as any page of your website, documents and pdf files, coupons, YouTube videos, etc. If you have a reader go ahead and scan the QR Code above.
During the month of June 2011, according to one study, 14 million mobile users scanned a QR code or a barcode. Some 58% of those users scanned a QR or bar code from their home, while 39% scanned from retail stores; 53% of the 14 million users were men between the ages of 18 and 34.
Many Android, Nokia and Blackberry handsets come with QR code readers installed. QR reader software is available for most mobile platforms. The user will open the QR coder reader, scan the QR code and the website or information will appear in a browser for their review.
Marketing ideas with QR codes are endless. I have seen real estate agents use them with their MLS listings online to give more details about a listing. Car dealerships like to put them on their vehicle windows. Whenever anyone visits the dealership after hours they can scan the QR code and get additional info on the vehicle that they are interested in.
You can use QR codes in any print media such as newspapers, magazines and yellow page ads. The local post office has one on their front door which is linked to their website.
I have even seen dog owners put them on their pet’s collars. I guess those little tags can be too small to put all the info on it that you may need. I really like that idea.
In the beginning QR codes were black on white, but now you can design them as any color that you choose. You can even add a logo to the code as long as you do not cover more than 30% of the code.
